Preface
Legacy Is Built One Decision at a Time
I didn’t come from money. I wasn’t born into legacy. I’m not a trust fund kid or somebody who had life handed to them. I came from a small home in Tampa, Florida. Green Ridge Estates, right in the heart of Clair Mel City. My mama raised me and my little sister the best way she knew how. We didn’t have much, but we had love.
I’ve always had a relationship with my dad, and as I’ve gotten older, we’ve grown even closer. That bond means a lot to me now, especially as a dad myself now.
What I did have, even back then, was this fire inside me. A hunger to be more than what my circumstances suggested. Not just for me, but for my family, and the generations coming after me.
In 2013, I joined the Marine Corps. I served proudly. But even while I was in uniform, my mind was chasing more. I was hungry for knowledge, especially about money. I read books, watched videos, and soaked up everything I could find. But most of what I came across pointed to the same blueprint. Get good grades. Land a stable job. Put money in your 401(k). Buy a house. Retire one day, hopefully while you’re still young enough to enjoy it.
So that’s what I chased. At least, that’s what I thought I was supposed to chase.
